Towards an integrated cardiovascular health strategy for Belgium
A proposed cardiovascular health agenda from the Belgian Society of Cardiology and Belgian Heart League
What is the CVD Framework?
The CVD Framework is a comprehensive blueprint and proposed health agenda for Belgium's upcoming National Cardiovascular Action Plan, developed and put forward by the Belgian Society of Cardiology (BSC) and the Belgian Heart League (BHL). It outlines five overarching priorities and 20 concrete recommendations aimed at achieving a 30% reduction in premature cardiovascular mortality by 2030.
The framework's core pillars focus on:
- Establishing interfederal coordination with clear governance and funding
- Promoting a healthy lifestyle across all sectors
- Making proactive risk detection the default in primary care
- Guaranteeing high-quality prevention as the standard of care
- Building a data-driven, equitable, and patient-centered cardiovascular ecosystem.
